Lord Bahubali Statue
Bahubali statue is a 12.8m (42 feet) high monolithic structure carved out of granite stone.This statue is built in 14th century by the king “Veera Pandya”. It is the second largest Bahubali statue in India.This giant structure was half carved in the foot hills of the granite hill were statue is currently situated .The half finished statue was then transported to the hill top using a giant 20 wheeled carriage ,the statue was placed on the cart using huge levers and was tied to the cart using coir rope.The statue was so heavy that the carriage was used to move only couple of meters a day. The statue finally reached the 200 feet high peak after one month long crawl. After one year the statue was neatly carved and the structure was all-set to get established. With the help of thousands of workers the statue was erected on a specified area.








Chathurmukha Basadi
This basadi was built in 16th century(1586) by Immadi bairava vodaya.The name Chathurmukha means 4 faces ,comes from four entrances of the basadi. The entire basadi is constructed out of granite stone sculptures , even the roof is constructed by placing layers of granite.108 stone pillars help the roof to stay in its position.This basadi houses four statues of three jain gods (Theerthankaras) namely Aranatha, Mallinatha and Munisu vrathanatha at four different directions .One can find all the three gods in all 4 directions.King Bairarasa had vision to match this basadi and Bahubali statue in height and connect these two monuments via a bridge , but this could not happen because the astrologers suggested him that “You are going to live for only 6 months so stop the work”!!.
Manasthambha of Neminatha Basadi
Manasthambha, were “Sthambha” means pillar is present in front of all jain basadis The factor which makes this pillar famous, is its height, which is 52.5 feet. The pillar was carved in the year 1522, by king Pandyaraya.The pillar has carvings of Hindu gods like Ganapathi,Hanumantha and Krishna despite being a Jain structure. At the top , the pillar has a chaori ,which houses four images of Jina pointing to four directions.The pillar is simply placed on a 4 storied platform without any supporting structure.







Varanga Kere Basadi
The famous Kere Basadi is situated in the midst of a beautiful lake . The basadi is also called as “Jalmandir”. The basadi has more than 850 years of history. “Chalukya-hoysala” type of architecture can be found here.The pilgrims have to use a small boat to reach kere basadi.
Idols of Parshwanatha, Ananthanatha, Neminatha, Shanthinatha are worshipped here.Being one of the important place for “Jains” ,this sacred place is visited by hundreds of devotees every year .
Padmavathi Basadi
Padmavathi basadi at anekere was built by “Pandya-IV” the successor of “Abhinava Pandya”. This Basadi is located at the centre of the lake. Basadi is accessed using a single narrow path







Neminatha Basadi
The Neminatha basadi is a 1200 year old structure found in varanga interior of karkala. The looks of this is similar to chathurmuka basadi.Varanga Raya had built this basadi, which also goes with the name “Hire basadi”. Here we can find 24 theertankaras in kayotsarg posture. The main attraction remains the 5 feet tall Neminatha swamy idol.
Beautiful Lakes
Lake Anekere : constructed by pandyadeva has a history of 6 centuries.It was constructed to provide clean drinking water to the people and for bathing purpose of elephants, so the name Anekere ,where meaning of “Ane” is “elephant”.Anekere spanning 25 acres is a very beatiful lake. This lake attracts tourists visiting karkala and sheltering Ducks, Cormorants, Jacanas and many other rare bird species.
Sigadi Kere: This small lake is found in front of anekere basadi. This lake is a part of anekere. This lake now shines with crystal clear water with a depth of 15 feet.
Ramasamudra lake : This is found in the foothills of chathurmukha basadi and Gommata betta. This is one of the biggest lake in coastal karnataka, covering 42 acres.This lake was constructed by Veera Pandya the same king who built Bahubali statue , in memory of his brother “Ramanatha vodeya”.

Ananthashayana temple
Ananthashayana temple is an ancient temple built in 15th century, dedicated to lord “Anantha Padhmanaba”(a form of lord Vishnu).Initially the temple was constructed as a jain basadi, when Sringeri jagadguru Sri Narasimha Barathi swamiji visited Karkala (1584).The king was pleased and gave him a warm welcome.But swamiji said “I will stay here if there is a Hindu temple with lord Vishnu in it”. So the king installed a beautifully sculptured Idol of Anantha Padmanabha.
Saavira Kambadha Basadi
Spectacular wood and stone architecture of the Saavira Kambada Basadi at Mudabidri. Mudabidri is a small town noted for its many Jain basadis. The town has 18 temples, of which the Saavira Kampada Basadi is the most famous, also known as 1000 pillared temple. The Temple was built in the Vijayanagara era, around 1430 AD. It is one of the most well preserved Jain Temples in Southern India with distinct Konkani architecture.








Attur Church
St. Lawrence Shrine or Attur Church is a Roman Catholic church in Karkala. It came into existence in 1759 and has a history of miracles. In 1998 the 'Miracle-Pond', Pushkarini was renovated in modern Indian architectural style with the facility for pilgrims to descend into the pond.The water is believed to have a miraculous healing effect and is said to have produced many healings. Hence, most of the pilgrims make it a point to visit this pond.
Shringeri Sharada temple
Sringeri Sharada Peetha is the southern Advaita Vedanta matha or monastery established by Adi Shankara in 8th century AD. Traditionally, Adi Shankara (8th century) is regarded as the greatest teacher and reformer of the Smartha.According to Alf Hiltebeitel, Shankara established the nondualist interpretation of the Upanishads as the touchstone of a revived smartha tradition.The Sringeri Sharada monastery founded by Shankara in Karnataka is still the centre of Smartha tradition.
